A wonderful warm and sunny summer season this year and gardens have really benefitted. Our kitchen gardens and orchards are yielding fabulous, delicious produce. Rosa mutabilis chinensis is thriving in my garden reminding me of the Landriana gardens near Rome. This rose grows prolifically under the beautiful Melia azedarach.
I will shortly be in Normandy to welcome an enthusiastic group of enthusiasts to enjoy the fabulous gardens on the coast and inland. My very favourite is Le Jardin Plume near Rouen, with its design, colours and plantings created by a very dedicated couple, Patrick and Sylvie Quibel, who also have a tempting nursery.
Monty Don in his recent BBC programme on French Gardens much enjoyed this garden too.
