Dominique Lafourcade’s latest addition to her personal garden at Les Confines is inspired by African landscapes. Dominique travelled with us to South Africa last November and was inspired by the landscapes and flowers of the Little Karoo, Western Cape. We stayed for a couple of days on the Sanbona Wildlife Reserve which was amazing. Rich Karoo flora and the discovery of wildlife: a pride of lions early in the morning, the giraffes feeding on the Karoo Acacia trees and the elephant family meandering along the dry river bed.
Back in her garden in Provence, Dominique was keen to develop her African garden forming part of the gardens at her home, Les Confines. The March 13 edition of Country Life features a well-illustrated article on Out of Africa – ‘African garden, Les Confines, Avignon, France’.
23 to 25 April our associate company, French Gardens Today, has a 3-day tour visiting Dominique Lafourcade’s garden and other gardens designed by her. Dominique will be with us for most of the visits. On the final evening we enjoy dinner together at the restaurant of Hotel La Mirande in Avignon. For further details please contact Susan Worner on 01423 326 300. A few places are still available.
We are returning to South Africa – the Western Cape in November 2013 visiting the Sanbona Wildlife Reserve as with Dominique last year. Check out our full itinerary in the website. It is a fabulous tour or contact us on 01904 651 651.
