We support this well-worth charity set up by Mike McHugo and run by local people and volunteers in the Moroccan Atlas Mountains.
Very few girls from the rural communities of the High Atlas Mountains get the opportunity of continuing their education beyond primary school.
A remarkable man, Mike realised that mountain hamlets around the village of Imlil needed help to sustain and improve the Berbers’ hardworking lives but not to change their lifestyle. He started to increase tourism using local craftsmen, guides and muleteers, raised funds for an ambulance to take the mountain people for medical care down in the valley. Weekly boarding schools were his next project for girls’ secondary education and nursery schools are his next project. Funds are raised by sponsorship such as a yearly charity bike ride in the Atlas and from donations which we are pleased to give annually. www.educationforallmorocco.org.
