Africa Special

I am nearing the end of three very enjoyable and successful tours in Africa this autumn and have been hearing much about David Attenborough’s fascinating Planet Earth II series.

swt-sq2Namibia, Botswana and South Africa have so much to offer and especially for those with the an interest in various aspects of nature, wildlife and conservation.
Our tours to South Africa, the Cape region have been running for over ten years.  With its wonderful climate, we combine visits to stunning private gardens in the Cape and discover the Little Karoo in the hinterland staying at Sanbona an exceptional reserve with wild flowers and diverse wildlife.  A warm welcome is encountered everywhere in this beautiful region not to mention the delicious cuisine and local wines we are offered.

A visit to Namibia will give long lasting memories, a sense of peace and an urge to return!  The deserts are amazing, beautiful and serene.  Trees and plants survive in harsh conditions, the wildlife is well adapted and the colours of the dunes especially at Sossusvlei, the geology and landscapes are a photographer’s dream.  Delightful, comfortable lodges always give a warm welcome and have well trained local staff.  The Namibian people are friendly and always helpful and their guides so well versed.

swt-sq4In March, the green season, we combine northern Namibia visiting the Etosha Pan with its exceptional wildlife and then travel along the Kavango river to the Okavango Delta in Botswana.  The elephant herds in the Chobe river are a memorable sight.  Flying over the Delta to the lodge gives viewings of water holes, river channels and wildlife. Landing on a private airstrip to a warm welcome by the staff is just the start of the experience.  Hippos, elephants and giraffes are much in evidence but also a vast variety of birds from the Korhaan to the pied kingfisher and bee-eaters.  Waterlilies in abundance line the water channels and Jacandas walk along the floating leaves searching for insects.  An outing on a mokoro boat with our guide/poler is an experience to be remembered.

Our new tour in November 2017 to the Skeleton Coast in north west Namibia offers a rare insight into the remote mountains and desert which lead to the coast.  Our lodge has an exclusive concession for access.  Desert-elephants and giraffes survive here browsing along the dry riverbeds, seal colonies and seabirds are seen on the haunting coast with its shipwrecks.  Other highlights are the desert black rhinos in Damaraland and learning about the cheetah conservation programme south of Etosha make this tour an exceptional experience.

We still have some very limited availability for our garden tours in Italy and France and on the Morocco Desert tour.

Should you wish to receive a detailed tour booklet for any of our tours, have any questions you would like to discuss or enquire about availability, please contact us on +44 (0)1423 326 300 or  We are always delighted to help.
