Venice & the Veneto

The history and beauty of the Veneto region combined with the elegance of formal gardens along canals and behind high walls in Venice. Palladio influenced the country villas and gardens built along the Brenta in the seventeenth century. We stay in the Dorsodoro district just off the Grand Canal and use private boats to visit the gardens. One of our favourite Italian garden tours.

Welcome to Susan Worner Tours

We are delighted to present our garden tours for 2020 in France, Italy, Portugal and Morocco. We have an exciting new destination in the year ahead, while other tours feature new additions to the programme or newly discovered hotels.  Among the highlights, our much-loved classic garden and botanical tours are to Venice, Provence and the Italian Lakes of Como and Maggiore.

New for 2020 is the chance to travel through the rolling hills of Beaujolais country north of Lyon in June, where we discover enchanting gardens at the height of the rose season. Another innovation is our choice of Eurostar for the journey from London St Pancras for this and three further tours during the year: It is a decidedly pleasant way to travel. Gardens of Portugal feature in late September when we explore a different style of design and landscaping in Sintra and Lisbon before going north to the beautiful Douro Valley.

From January, please look out for the launch of our tours to Africa, with destinations including Namibia, Botswana and the Cape region of South Africa.  To be sure you won’t miss the opportunity to be part of these wonderful experiences, please do contact us if you would like to register on our priority list.

Our tailor-made programmes are increasingly in demand for small groups of about eight participants for gardens in Europe and a minimum of four participants for southern Africa. They are much requested by horticultural groups from around the world. We have further developed our private tours to Namibia, Botswana and South Africa, and can offer some very special destinations to experience the flora and wildlife of these countries.

We take great care to uphold and even improve on our standards, and pay meticulous attention to detail, always finding special extras to include in the programme. We are delighted to welcome many participants who have been with us before.

For further information or queries, please contact us by telephone or by email.

We look forward to welcoming you on one of our 2020 tours.
